1:48 Scale Lockheed U-2C Spyplane - Testors Model Kit.
The Lockheed U-2 was built to a CIA request issued in 1954. Designed and fabricated at Lockheed's famous Advanced Development Projects division, or "Skunk Works", the U-2 flew for the first time in August of 1955. The initial test and training site was called "The Ranch" and was located at Groom Lake, NV. The U-s began flying spy missions in 1956 and it's CIA missions were relatively secret until May of 1960 when a U-2C descended onto Soviet soil 1400 miles inside the Russian borders. This created an international furor known as the "U-2 incident".
