How do you get autographs from baseball players?
Our vacations are visiting ballparks during the summer. How do you get baseball players autographs? Before at batting practice or after games when they leave? Is that impolite to hang out after a game? My son (7) loves to get autographs and my husband and I are always arguing what to say or do at the moment. Any tips would be appreciated. Season’s coming soon!
Go by the team dugout before the game during batting practice and get there early. A few players will come by and sign. Also, after the game is good as well. A few players stop by. I do autographs through the mail and if you edit the question with a few players, I can give you success rates through the mail and addresses for Spring Training. I see you like JJ Hardy so his success rate is:

so your visiting spring training and when they are warming up or near the dugout and maybe even during the reg. season you go down and when they start walking over.. you ask them for their autogrph and they will sign while talking to you or other people and then a whole bunch of people mob around you to get their autograph. Most of the time they sign.

I am not sure about an MLB park, but when we go to the Minor League park in Idaho Falls the players sign autographs as they leave their locker room. I think this is much better simply because these players don’t have the egos that Major League players do. Also, who knows, maybe one of the players we get in Rookie ball will become a star and then we have an autograph from back when they were nothing.

You can get to the ball park early…some will be by the stands signing during BP, you can catch them outside the park too if you know where they enter

Well, i am not quite sure, but i don know that if you catch one of their fly balls during a game or something else, they usually sign it right after, just tell them you caught it.

simply ask them after they change or arrive early to the game and go run up to the dugout

You go like 1 hour before bp, and then when they arent busy they take the time out for autographs.

I have taken my son to get autographs at the park and he loves it. We have gotten some before the game during batting practice, although we were sitting in the front row right behind the Twins bullpen. We have also gone behind the stadium after the game where the players leave the stadium to go to they’re cars. Some will stop and sign and some will not. Its hit and miss either way. Normally the bigger name players don’t sign.
